Conair ExtremeSteam Hand-Held Steamer Review

Updated: January 23rd, 2019

I am so very adverse to ironing that I have not owned an ironing board in four years. In a moment of desperation, I once ironed a shirt on an old laminate desk. I have made the mistake of ironing on top of a towel on my floor. I go to great lengths to never buy anything that might ever need ironing. As you can imagine, I was very excited to check out an iron alternative: the Conair ExtremeSteam hand-held steamer.

Conair ExtremeSteam Hand-Held Steamer Review

So far, I have been impressed. The steamer is fast. It works even on heavy duty fabrics like curtains. It is easy to use to use and heats up quickly. Plus, it is green and great for certain types of travel. Here’s what I like about it.

conair-extremesteam-steamer-reviewTop Steamer Features

Some of my favorite features of the Conair ExtremeSteam hand-held steamer are that it:

  • Is intuitive and easy to use
  • Includes 3 attachments: brush, creaser, and soft cushion brush
  • Kills dust mites and bedbugs
  • Has an energy-saving steam pause
  • Dewrinkles fabric 5x faster than similar products

How the ExtremeSteam Steamer is Green

The steamer is a great alternative to using the chemical spray starch that you might use when ironing. It also means you do not have to take clothes to the dry cleaners, which can have a huge environmental impact. Plus, it heats up much faster than any of my irons ever did — in just 60 seconds — which saves energy.

Is the ExtremeSteam Good for Travel?

Since most hotels have irons, the steamer is more practical for trips where you will be staying in a B&B, tent, cabin, or hostel. I will definitely consider bringing this the next time I go on a cruise as I am often bringing dress clothing. If you are going on a more casual trip, but have a nice dinner planned, this steamer would be great to bring with you to un-wrinkle your dress clothes. The steamer also takes up a bit of suitcase space, so I would recommend it mostly for car trips where packing light matters less.

The Bottom Line

For people who hate ironing as much as I do, the Conair ExtremeSteam hand-held steamer is a great option. Its environmental impact is light. and it is great for road trips and vacations where you are not staying in a hotel. I plan on bringing it to an out-of-state wedding that I am driving to in several months, just to “freshen up” my clothing.

Who Would Like this Product

I would buy this for someone who is just starting out on their own, in their own apartment, condo, or first home. I would buy it for anyone who doesn’t already have an iron. I believe the best candidate for this product is for someone who just graduated from college and now has nice clothing they have to wear every day for their employment.

It will make it easy for them to have a fresh appearance for work. I also have a difficult time buying something for some close relatives (mother, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law) who have everything and want nothing. This Conair ExtremeSteam Hand Held Steamer could be the perfect gift for someone who has everything.

Conair was kind enough to send me a steamer to review, but the opinions expressed are all mine. This post contains affiliate links, which allow us to provide high-quality content for free. Thanks for your support!
