Okabashi Recyclable Flip Flops Review: Sandals with Arch Support

I’m always looking for a comfortable, eco-friendly summer shoes and the folks at Okabashi were kind enough to send me a pair of their Ocean flip flops. They’re attractive, comfortable, durable, and low-impact. I’m a fan. Here is my review of the Okabashi Flip Flop and why I think they are so awesome:

Sandals with Arch Support, Comfort, and Durability

For most of my life, I didn’t wear flip flops because normally flip flops have inadequate arch support; my arches are high, so they hurt my feet. These Okabashi sandals have some of the best arch support I’ve found in a flip flop. They’re incredibly comfortable. They’re also much more durable than your average flip flop so you don’t have to worry about them falling apart in the middle of your vacation. And for just $12.99-14.99, they’re a bargain. In fact,  Okabashi even got an endorsement by the American Chiropractic Association. It’s the sole footwear brand to carry their endorsement. I’m guessing it’s because of these flip flop sandal’s superior arch support.

Made in the USA

Okabashis are made in Buford, Georgia. For most shoes you see in the store, one of the biggest environmental impacts comes from shipping them from a factory overseas into the country where you buy them. However, "the average Okabashi shoe travels only 7% as far as the average imported shoe," which means a much smaller environmental impact. You can shop for these shoes with a clean conscience.  Plus, they are vegan.

Recyclable Shoes

One of the coolest things about Okabashi is their shoe recycling program. When your shoes get old, you can send them back to the company, where they’ll be ground up and blended into the mixture for a new pair of shoes. According to the Okabashi website, last year they re-ground and re-introduced 100,000  lbs of scrap material that would have otherwise gone to the landfill.

If you like to wear sandals in the summer, I would highly recommend Okabashis. So many brand of flip flops falls apart just months after you buy them and go straight to the landfill. Okabashi shoes, though, are made to last. They are guaranteed to last two years. And they are dishwasher safe.  And they’re recyclable.

Okabashi doesn’t just sell flip flops, they also sell several other styls of sandals and clogs for both men and women.

You can buy Okabashi through their Amazon store.
