Go Vote! But Read This First

by Kimberly on November 4, 2008

With all the misinformation floating around out there about voting — like skeezy people telling Virginia Democrats to vote on Wednesday — we want to do our part by spreading the word.

This election could be a turning point for the issues you care about. Or it could undo decades of progress; just look at what’s happened in the past 8 years. Your vote matters.

We won’t tell you who to vote for — though you can probably guess who we (progressive, feminist, gay environmentalists) support. And only one VP candidate’s energy policy revolves around drill drill drill-ing.

So go vote today. But before you head to the polls, check out this excellent guide to Voter Preparedness.

As voters I hope that people sincerely keep environmental issues on the forefront. All of the candidates talk a big game until the elections are over – voting is an important first step, but being active citizens will help get (insert support here) legislation passed and keep promises kept.

Oregon uses the “mail vote” system, so I decided to drop my ballot off at the elections headquarters to “GO TO THE POLL!” last night :-)

The world is about to change.
