And We’re Off: Alaska, Vancouver, Banff and Beyond
We’ve got some big news here at Go Green Travel Green. For the next 3 weeks, we’ll be traveling across Western Canada and Alaska for our wedding, honeymoon, and a cruise. So most of our posts during that time will be about our travels.
Here’s what we’re planning to explore:
- Whether cruises can truly be green
- Efforts Holland America is making to green their cruise line
- Tips for making your cruise more environmentally-friendly
- Green recreation in Alaska
- Low-impact activities in Vancouver
- Drinking and dining out in Vancouver
- Things to do and where to stay in Banff National Park and Lake Louise
If you have a recommended activity or favorite restaurant in any of those places, please pass it along!

Things to do in Alaska:
1. Drive or take the train(greener option) from Anchorage to Seward
2. Have frozen cappuccinos for desserts in italian-restaurant-i-cant-remember-the-name in downtown Anchorage. The downtown can be walked end-to-end in 15 minutes and there aren’t too many Italian restaurants, so it should not be hard to find. Only catch is that I was there 6 years ago, and have no idea if they still exist.
Hey Arun - Thanks so much for the advice! We’re excited to see what we find.
