Glacier Pictures: Argentina Perito Moreno Glacier

by Elizabeth

While in Argentina last fall, we visited Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate.

We took at least 1000 glacier pictures that day as we couldn’t get over the beauty of the glacier. Of course, photos never can capture the true magnificence of the glacier, but we still tried. Have a look:

Pictures do it some justice, but one needs audio for an even better appreciation of the glacier viewing experience! Hearing chunks of ice crack off the face and then seeing the splashdown was amazing. Like I’ve told others, you’ve gotta catch this natural show while it lasts!

Despite the fact that you can’t really get a grasp on the size of the glacier, it is amazing to even fathom the size, it must have been a wonderful sight to behold. Especially fond of the photo with the flowers, very nice. Thank you.

These pictures are really amazing! It looks very serene and peaceful, though I’m sure these shots weren’t easy to take, and that UFO cloud is quite interesting.

Yeah, the glacier was awesome. It was REALLY REALLY cold in the winter when we went, but I would throw in some pictures of El Calafate and the sorry state of the city you are forced to stay in if you want to visit the glacier.

I would plan 2 days max and that is only because the excursions leave really early, so you won’t make it the first day you are there.

There is absolutely nothing to do outside of visiting the glacier … and in all honesty, you probably won’t go back a second day
