Get Your Green Passport and other Weekly Links

by Elizabeth on March 16, 2008

Many picked up on the launch of the UN’s “Green Passport” initiative. This site has some very useful information, however, it is a little difficult to navigate and slow to load.

If you enjoy golfing and care about birds this post is for you. Intelligent travel has a post about Audubon International’s certification program for golf courses. (While I was down in FL I actually noticed that my grandfather’s retirement community/golf course has signs stating that they are certified) Here’s a link to a pdf that contains all the certified properties.

If you’re interested in traveling to a place where your dollar actually gets you somewhere (Eastern Europe) check out Lonely Planet’s piece on Macedonia going green.

Vagablogging discusses development and volunteer tourism and asks: Do these programs really make a difference?

Christopher Elliot writes about greenwashing in How to Spot the Travel Industry’s Eco-Spin.
