Everyone’s Talking About It: Is Eco Travel Here to Stay?

I think green travel has reached a tipping point.

In preparation for Earth Day, I decided to poke around online to see who’s talking about eco travel this year. It turns out the answer is: everyone, and print newspapers are leading the pack.

The Boston Globe reports that many vacationers want to travel green.

The Chicago Tribune brings up 10 eco-resorts to check out.

The Examiner.com has tips on adding green to your travels and your budget.

The Indianapolis Star shares some tips for traveling green.

NY Daily news reports that Earth Day signals a trend in eco-travel.

Cheapflights.com encourages readers to stay green on the go and go local.

The Lindsay Post says there’s no need to sacrifice for green travel.

SheKnows shares eco-holiday tips.

Even Nokia’s jumping on the green travel bandwagon with its new GreenExplorer website.

I hope this means green travel is becoming mainstream!

it is definitely here to stay. we can not continue destroying the earth when there are so many wonderful and easy alternatives, especially with travel. besides, it’s so much more of an experience when you chose eco travel, by learning other societies, nature and just overall giving back to our earth!

Good list. A few additions: Baltimore Sun ran a weak article with dated tips for “making your travels green.” CNN’s Budget Travel column also featured dated ideas and press released, mainstream solutions from the big box hotels.
