Hotelly Review: A New Best Hotel Search Engine?

Hotelly is a new hotel search engine that I came across this week. It’s still in beta, but I wanted to run a few tests to see how it stacked up against other hotel search engines.

Check out my thoughts:

Hotelly Test

Search for hotels in:

Minneapolis, MN Hotel: August 15-17, 2009:

Hotelly Best Price: $55.52 for a Holiday Inn, tax not included

Kayak Best Price: $41 for LivInn Suites, tax not included

Washington, DC Hotel: October 1-5, 2009

Hotelly Best Price: $104.14 for Best Western Capitol Skyline, tax not included

Kayak Best Price: $63 for Hilton Tysons Corner, taxes not included

San Francisco, CA Hotel: December 23-27, 2009

Hotelly Best Price: Encore Express, $30, taxes not included

Kayak Best Price: $25, AAE Amsterdam Hotel, taxes not included

Overall Hotelly Review

I like Hotelly’s hotel reviews feature, it distinguishes it from Kayak because you can sort by the user rating and not just the hotel star rating. Neither Kayak nor Hotelly were including taxes in most of their results, which is disappointing.

However, the reviews on either site aren’t as helpful as Trip Advisor’s reviews. If you’re looking specifically for a hotel search engine with a reviews sort feature, Hotelly seems like a good choice. Otherwise, Kayak is still turning up cheaper prices.

Has anyone else tried Hotelly out? What did you think?

  1. wow so interesting
i suggest you go around the world then give us a report!
    very good idear!

  2. people really search these sites for the lowest prices. most people who go off of reviews usually get them somewhere else than where they book the rooms so Hotelly needs to make some changes. their prices aren’t even competitive.
