Best Travel Dresses

The third post in our travel clothing series, check out the following post on best travel dresses.

A must in every woman traveler’s bag is a cute, comfortable, and washable travel dress. I have a Horny Toad black cotton dress that goes with me on most trips. (It doesn’t seem to be made anymore although there are a few like it below.) It’s easy  to pack  as it roll ups nicely and doesn’t wrinkle too much. It’s fancy enough to wear it own to semi fancy dinners and casual and comfortable enough to wear hiking up and down the hills of Toledo. The only thing it doesn’t have that some of these dresses do is hidden pockets.

Here are the Best Travel Dresses that You can Buy Today:

The first set of dresses below you can buy through Zappos which has free shipping (even on returns) and a 365 day return policy:

Patagonia Bandha Dress ($60) has some of the best reviews I’ve ever seen of a travel dress. (I’m adding this dress to my Christmas list). It’s a lightweight knit jersey material and the fabric wicks away moisture for the best comfort in hot weather. Plus, I love the v-neck.

The North Face Women’s Abby Convertible Dress ($65) gets almost as good of reviews as the Bandha because it converts into a skirt! There’s nothing better for a traveler than a reversible or convertible piece of clothing. It also has a pocket. (I love pockets in dresses.) It has UV protection of 30 SPF.

This Tommy Bahama Tambour Surplice Dress ($114) is a little more stylish than the Patagonia and North Face so it unfortunately requires you to wash cold and dry flat. Not necessarily the best for round-the-world globetrotters, but good for a vacation that wouldn’t require you to do a load of laundry. It’ also wrinkle resistant and better for cooler climates because of it’s three quarter length sleeves.

Columbia Departure Dame Travel Dress is a basic black travel dress that offers longer sleeves and 50 UPF sun protection.

Patagonia Women’s Long-Sleeved Margot Dress ($65) is “graceful and elegant, perfect for any occasion.” It’s made from organic cotton that is extra soft. The v-neck and three quarter length sleeves make it perfect for a variety of occasions.

Horny Toad Rosalinda Dress ($62)is like my primary travel dress except this one has three quarter length sleeves. It’s also made from organic cotton.

REI has a wonderful REI Touring Knit Dress ($59.50)with hidden pockets. It hits below the knee.

Thanks for posting. I’m always trying to find great dresses for travel! Some of these I would wear even when not travelling! My favourite is the Patagonia Bandha Dress.

I recently bought the REI Touring Knit Dress at their most sale. I haven’t had an opportunity to wear it on any travels yet, but I am pretty certain it’s going to be a very popular piece in my travel wardrobe. Super comfy, packs up small, and can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

@ Elise I also like the Bandha dress.
@Theresa – so good to hear about the Touring Knit Dress – any dress with hidden pockets grabs my attention. I’ll have to look for it on sale.
