Chaco Women’s Unaweep Sandals Review

I’ve been eyeing Chaco sandals for years now and was thrilled to receive my Unaweep sandals. I’m always on the lookout for quality travel shoes and had high hopes for my Chacos. I haven’t been disappointed. They’re comfortable, attractive, great for travel, and cost $75-100. I’ve worn them just about every day since I got them. Read on for the ultimate Chaco women’s Unaweep sandals review.

What I Love About my Chaco Sandals

There are so many things to love about my Chaco Unaweep sandals. Here’s what makes them so great. (I opted for the ZX/1 version, which is the one without the class Chaco toe strap. If you like the toe strap, you’ll want the ZX/2 model.)

Fantastic Arch Support. I have high arches and I need excellent arch support to be comfortable in a pair of shoes. My Chacos don’t disappoint. They have amazing arch support, which is hard to find in a sandal.

Comfortable. My Chaco sandals are super comfortable. I can even wear them on short hikes and long walks. They’re a great summer alternative to tennis shoes or hiking boots. They fit true to size and true to width.

High-Quality. I can tell that these Chacos will last. They’re durable, well put together, and just feel high-quality.

Versatile. I love the way my Chaco Unaweep sandals look. You can dress them up or down and they look good with shorts, pants, a skirt, or a dress. The criss-crossing straps are cute and dress up the shoes a bit. Their versatility makes them great for travel and packing light.

Adjustable. I love that you can adjust all of the straps at once. Their adjustability means you get the best fit for your foot, no matter your shape or size.

Are Unaweep Sandals Good for Hiking and Travel?

The Chaco Unaweep sandals are great for hiking. They’re supportive, comfortable, and durable. The tread is great even for steep or wet terrain. The Unaweep sandals are also the perfect travel sandal because they’re so versatile. Dress them up to go out for a fancy meal or dress them down for a day hiking around your destination.

Are Chaco Sandals a Sustainable Choice?

In a word, yes. Chaco has a cool program called ReChaco where you can send in your well-loved sandals to be rewebbed, resoled, and repaired. That means your sandals won’t be going to the dump when they get worn out — they’ll be going back to Chaco to be made like-new, which is far better for the environment. Over 40,000 pairs of sandals are sent in for work each year. The ReChaco program means you can feel good about buying Chacos. Plus, many Chaco sandals feature EcoTread soles, which use up to 25% recycled content.

Alternatives to the Unaweep ZX/1

The Women’s Uaweep are the burliest Chaco sandals. If you’ve looking for a lighter weight version, try the Yampa sandals. Personally, I love the Unaweeps, but I can see when a lighter weight sandal might come in handy. The ZX/1 versions of both the Unaweep and Yampa sandals don’t have a toe strap, but the ZX/2 Unaweep and ZX/2 Yampa both have toe straps, if you prefer that.

The Bottom Line

I love my Chaco sandals and would highly recommend women’s Unaweep ZX/1 or ZX/2 sandals for travel. They’re attractive, comfortable, and versatile. You can dress them up or down and they are be great for light hiking, exploring a new city, or just going for a stroll.

Chaco was kind enough to send me sandals to review, but the opinions expressed are all mine. This post contains affiliate links, which allow us to provide high-quality content for free. Thanks for your support!
